We’re currently recruiting for a Warm, Enthusiastic, and Dedicated Commis Chef to join Elvy Court Care Home in Kent. This is more than a job—it’s an opportunity to be at the heart of an environment where both kindness and culinary excellence come together.
About the Role
As Commis Chef under the guidance of the Chef de Partie, your role is central to the food production and service ethos at Elvy Court. You’ll collaborate across different sections of the kitchen—including vegetables, fish, meat, and sauces—and typically rotate positions every six months to ensure well-rounded experience.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Working alongside all chefs to ensure elite catering standards across the home, upholding:
- Resident choice, dignity, and confidentiality
- Health, safety, and quality compliance in all meals served
- Participating in catering strategy meetings with residents and department leaders to:
- Discuss and agree on catering functions and resident priorities
- Identify and accommodate special dietary needs (including cultural and religious preferences)
- Preparing nutritional food and beverages to a consistently high standard, delivered promptly and in line with meal schedules
- Adhering to serving guidelines to prepare special diet meals per directives from the senior team

About You

✧ Essential Requirements:
- A qualified catering professional, holding either:
- City & Guilds (706/1 & 706/2)
- NVQ in Food Preparation (Level 2), or equivalent certification.
- Must hold a valid Basic Food Hygiene Certificate.
- A minimum of one-year experience in catering (within a care or similar setting preferred).
- Passion and commitment to delivering high-grade culinary service to residents.
- Adaptability and flexibility to adapt to ever-evolving needs and changing schedules.
