Commis Chef – The Bedford Hotel Belfast

The Bedford Hotel Belfast is seeking an experienced Commis Chef to join its exceptional team. This is your opportunity to play a pivotal role in one of Belfast’s newly opened boutique hotels.


About the Role

The Bedford Hotel Belfast is a prestigious boutique hotel set within the iconic Scottish Mutual Building in the heart of the city. With 82 beautifully appointed bedrooms, a destination restaurant, café/bar, and exclusive private dining, The Bedford Hotel Belfast is setting new standards for hospitality in Northern Ireland.


Role Responsibilities

You will support the kitchen team in ensuring the smooth and efficient running of the kitchen. As a Commis Chef, you will:

  • Assist in the preparation and production of dishes in a timely and organised manner, helping to deliver exceptional dining experiences for our guests.
  • Take pride in preparing and presenting food to a high standard, while adhering to:
    • Food safety and hygiene regulations
    • Stock rotation policies (accurate ordering and maintaining fridges/freezers)
  • Follow Head Chef specifications to ensure consistency across all dishes.
  • Support the kitchen team while maintaining high standards of cleanliness throughout operations.
  • Ensure correct attire and personal hygiene standards are met.
  • Report maintenance issues immediately according to procedure.

Key Requirements

  • Previous experience in a hotel kitchen, preferably as a Commis Chef.
  • Solid understanding of kitchen operations.
  • Passion for high-quality, fresh, seasonal food.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional attention to detail with a commitment to consistency.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of:
    • Food safety and hygiene
    • Allergen procedures
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn and grow within the team.
