About The Railway Inn
The Railway Inn is a charming country inn nestled in the rolling Somerset countryside, just 10 miles south of Bristol. We serve guests across a range of formal, informal and outdoor dining areas. Our aim is simple: to provide high-quality food, exceptional service and great value, while embodying the ethos of Thatchers Cider Company.
What will I be doing?
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Commiss Chef to join our kitchen team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their culinary career in a professional and supportive environment. Working closely with the Head Chef, Sous Chef and Chef de Partie team, you will gain experience across all areas of the kitchen while helping to deliver a consistent, high-quality food offer to our guests.

- Assisting with the preparation, cooking and presentation of dishes to the standards expected at The Railway Inn.
- Supporting chefs during service to ensure smooth and efficient kitchen operations.
- Learning and developing skills across different sections of the kitchen.
- Maintaining high standards of food quality, presentation and consistency.
- Ensuring ingredients are correctly stored, labelled, rotated and handled safely.
- Helping to maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment.
- Following all food hygiene, health and safety, and company procedures.
- Working closely with the wider team to deliver outstanding guest experience.
What are we looking for?
- A genuine passion for food and hospitality.
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn.
- Good organisation and attention to detail.
- Ability to work calmly and effectively in a busy kitchen environment.
- Understanding of food hygiene and safe working practices.
- Previous kitchen experience is desirable but not essential.
- Commitment to delivering quality and consistency in every dish.
