About the Role
At Soho House, a Commis Chef supports the kitchen brigade in delivering exceptional dining experiences to our members and guests. As a Commis Chef, you will work under the guidance of the senior kitchen team to develop your culinary skills, contribute to high-quality food preparation, and uphold the standards and values of the Club.
Your main responsibility is to ensure that the food we deliver to our members is of the highest quality. This includes preparing food before service, setting up and stocking kitchen stations, and plating to company standards.

Key Duties
- Assist chefs across all kitchen sections in preparing and producing dishes, ensuring consistency and attention to detail
- Follow recipe guidelines, portion controls, and presentation standards as directed by the Chef de Partie or Sous Chef
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of food prep areas while adhering to hygiene, food safety, and allergen procedures
- Support with receiving and storing deliveries, ensuring correct stock rotation and labelling (HACCP standards)
- Learn and apply kitchen techniques, including knife skills, basic sauces, vegetable preparation, and plating
- Ensure mise en place is completed on time and effectively communicated to the team per service requirements
- Take responsibility for allocated tasks and meet agreed timelines and standards
- Actively seek feedback and training from senior chefs
- Assist with team meals, including prep and service, ensuring quality and dietary needs are met

Requirements
Skills & Qualifications
- 2+ years’ experience in a similar kitchen role
- Passion for food, meticulous attention to detail, and a strong desire to learn and grow
- Understanding of basic food safety and hygiene practices
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work collaboratively and autonomously
- Culinary qualifications (e.g., NVQ Level 1 or 2) are a plus, though not essential
Responsibilities & Commitment
- Must demonstrate competency aligned with the training schedule and Club School programme
- Flexible shift work required, including weekends and holidays as needed

- Strong work ethic with a positive, proactive, and respectful attitude in a busy kitchen environment
Pay Range (UK-based positions)
£14.50—£14.50 GBP (interim rate)
