A Day in the Life of a Commiss Chef
What you'll be doing:
- Assist in preparing ingredients for dishes, including chopping, slicing, and ensuring smooth station operations.
- Collaborate with senior chefs across all kitchen sections, gaining hands-on experience.
- Maintain a clean, organised workstation, adhering strictly to hygiene and food safety standards.
- Take on inventory tasks, including:
- Preparing ingredients
- Monitoring stock levels
- Notifying chefs when supplies are low
- Perform basic cooking tasks, such as grilling, frying, and assisting with plating.
- Participate in regular cleaning to keep equipment and surfaces spotless.
- Quickly adapt to kitchen procedures, contributing effectively to a well-organised team.
What We Need From You

- A genuine interest in cooking and passion for learning in a professional kitchen.
- Some previous kitchen experience is helpful, but whatever your background, a willingness to work hard and learn is essential.
- Familiarity with basic food prep techniques and a commitment to refining your skills.
- Strong attention to detail, particularly regarding cleanliness and food safety.
- A team-oriented mindset—able to follow direction and support colleagues.
- The ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, staying focused and reliable during peak service times.
