Commis Chef – Waldorf Astoria London – Admiralty Arch
Located at the end of The Mall opposite Buckingham Palace, Waldorf Astoria London – Admiralty Arch is seeking a Commis Chef to join its pre-opening team for this highly anticipated luxury hotel opening later this year.
This is a unique opportunity for an experienced luxury hotelier to be part of the founding team—helping shape the guest experience at this iconic landmark.
The hotel will feature:
- 100 elegant rooms and suites
- 17,500 sqft of private residences
- Two signature restaurants:
- Coreus by Clare Smyth
- Café Boulud by Daniel Boulud (both celebrated Michelin-starred chefs)
- A world-class spa
- State-of-the-art fitness facilities
- Grand event spaces, including an 320-capacity ballroom

About the Role
Position Title: Commis Chef (Luxury Culinary Team Member)
This role will be pivotal in establishing excellence across all service standards, reflecting Hilton’s commitment to 5-star guest satisfaction.
Core Responsibilities
To excel in this role, you will be expected to:
- Prepare and present dishes to the highest luxury standards — ensuring impeccable quality, consistency, and presentation in alignment with the hotel’s bespoke guest experience.
- Execute kitchen tasks efficiently, maintaining discipline and precision under high-pressure circumstances.
- Support financial objectives through cost awareness and adherence to food safety protocols.
- Collaborate with the kitchen brigade, ensuring seamless meals service and mise en place execution.
- Facilitate cross-departmental cohesion, offering assistance where needed and fostering a supportive team culture.
- Adhere to stringent hygiene, safety, and contamination prevention regulations — ensuring full compliance with food safety laws (e.g. UK HACCP).
- Report maintenance, safety, and operational concerns promptly.
- Uphold Hilton’s sustainability initiatives, adopting environmental awareness in daily kitchen operations.

Requirements
Key Qualifications & Experience
To thrive as part of the luxury culinary team, you must demonstrate:
- Prior experience as a Commis Chef, Apprentice Chef, or comparable role within a luxury/ultra-luxury hospitality environment (strongly preferred).
- NVQ Level 1 in Professional Cookery (or equivalent certification).
- _valid basic food hygiene certificate (e.g., from Level 2 Food Safety).
- Completing an accredited cookery course—such as a Level 2 culinary apprenticeship or equivalent.
- Passion for hospitality with a guest-first mindset—valuing quality, craftsmanship, and high-end culinary service.
Note: Experience in Michelin-starred properties will significantly strengthen your application.
