Company Description

Dorset Coast Radio is Dorset’s newest local radio station, placing the community at the centre of everything it does. Broadcasting 24/7 across Dorset and online, the station offers entertainment, local information, and news tailored to the region. Dorset Coast Radio actively supports the growth and development of the local community, giving a voice to local stories and initiatives. The station regularly welcomes guests from across the area, sharing diverse perspectives and keeping listeners connected to what matters locally.

Role Description

This is a commission-only Sales Executive role to identify and approach local businesses and organisations to sell advertising and sponsorship packages across on-air and digital platforms. The Sales Executive will build and maintain long-term client relationships, conduct needs assessments, prepare proposals, negotiate terms, and close sales.

  • Prospecting new leads
  • Attending local events and meetings
  • Following up on inquiries
  • Managing a sales pipeline
  • Meeting agreed sales and revenue targets

The role also includes collaborating with the programming and marketing teams to create effective campaigns that align with client objectives and community values.

Qualifications

  • Proven sales skills in prospecting, negotiation, and closing deals, ideally within media, advertising, or related sectors.
  • Strong client relationship management skills, including the ability to build trust, communicate clearly, and provide excellent customer service.
  • Good understanding of marketing and advertising concepts, with the ability to translate business needs into effective campaign solutions.
  • Self-motivated and target-driven, comfortable working on a commission-only basis with responsibility for achieving revenue goals.
  • Effective organizational and time-management skills, including managing a sales pipeline and maintaining accurate records.
  • Knowledge of the local Dorset area and its business community, or willingness to quickly develop this understanding.
  • Proficiency with basic office software and CRM tools, and confidence in presenting proposals both in person and digitally.
  • Prior experience in field sales, account management, or business development; a background in radio or media sales is an advantage.
