Commissioning / Communications Engineer - IP/Network/Healthcare/Military
Commissioning Manager (Communication Systems) – Healthcare Sector
Reporting to the Commissioning Manager, the primary focus of this technical role is to lead the commissioning phase of communication system installations within the Installation Department, primarily in the healthcare sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and direct all commissioning activity for a project, including the role of Service Lead, ensuring responsibility for and directing all commissioning activities at the site.
- Coordinate with Project Managers, Engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of commissioning activities into the overall project timeline.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to commissioning team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
- Interface with Project Managers, Field Engineering, and Installation Engineers, offering subject-matter expertise in commissioning and start-up procedures.
- Oversee the commissioning process, including the testing, validation, and documentation of all systems and equipment.
- Provide 3rd Line Technical Support to the Installation Department (and service where applicable).
- Manage commissioning and start-up on major, complex systems, following a controlled sequence and adhering to project specifications.
- Maintain NSI installation standards, compliance, and quality control in the field. Identify errors/faults and provide guidance on rectification, offering one-on-one field training where possible.
- Identify and resolve issues/challenges during commissioning, implementing corrective actions as needed.
- Prepare systems for final inspection and hand them over to the Operations Team after completion of commissioning procedures.
- Support system handover and client acceptance.
- Report issues related to commissioning, start-up, schedule, and progress to the Installation Owner (Project Manager / Installation Manager).

Essential Requirements
- Strong technical experience in pressurised communications and paging systems within the healthcare sector.
- Highly proactive with the ability to work independently and think on your feet.
- Proven track record of delivering excellent customer service.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in installing and commissioning communication products.
- Strong commercial focus to ensure projects are delivered on budget, on time, and to agreed quality standards.
- Experience in project delivery and risk mitigation through effective planning.
- Sound knowledge of IP technology & networking.
