Role: Start-up and Commissioning Engineer
Location: London, UK (5 Days / Week Onsite)
Type: Fixed Term Contract (6 Months but extendable)
Overview
The Commissioning & Start-Up Engineer is responsible for supporting capital projects from engineering design through construction, commissioning, startup, and operational handover. The role ensures that manufacturing process systems and utilities are installed, tested, commissioned, and transitioned safely into operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Support engineering, construction, and operational teams throughout the project lifecycle.
- Develop and execute commissioning and startup plans for manufacturing process systems and utilities.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary teams including Process, Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Automation, and Operations.
- Lead system testing, troubleshooting, and performance verification activities.
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory requirements during commissioning and startup.
- Support operational readiness, training, documentation, and final handover activities.
- Drive issue resolution and performance optimization during startup and ramp-up phases.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Process, Electrical, Instrumentation, or related Engineering discipline.
- Experience in industrial manufacturing projects, commissioning, startup, or plant operations.
- Good understanding of process systems, utilities, instrumentation, automation, and project execution.
- Strong communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Experience
- Manufacturing or process industry projects.
- Commissioning and startup of process equipment and utility systems.
- Experience working in brownfield or live operating facilities.
- Exposure to PLC, DCS, or SCADA-based control systems.
- 7+ years of experience.
