BMS Commissioning Engineer (Contract)

Location: London (with regular travel across Central Europe)
Contract Type: Contract
Sector: Data Centres | Mission Critical | Cooling Systems

The Role

We are seeking an experienced BMS Commissioning Engineer to support the commissioning of cooling systems on major data centre projects across Central Europe. This is an excellent opportunity to work on high-profile, mission-critical facilities while joining a fast-paced and technically challenging environment.

Based from London, you will travel to project sites across Central Europe, commissioning Building Management Systems (BMS) associated with HVAC and cooling infrastructure to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Commission BMS systems for data centre cooling infrastructure.
  • Perform functional testing and point-to-point checks.
  • Validate control strategies and sequences of operation.
  • Work closely with mechanical, electrical, and commissioning teams.
  • Diagnose and resolve BMS and controls issues during commissioning.
  • Produce commissioning documentation, reports, and test records.
  • Support client witnessing, integrated systems testing, and project handover.
  • Ensure all commissioning activities comply with project specifications and safety requirements.

Requirements

  • Proven experience commissioning BMS systems on mission-critical or data centre projects.
  • Strong knowledge of cooling systems, HVAC controls, chilled water systems, and associated plant.
  • Experience with major BMS platforms such as Trend, Schneider, Siemens, Honeywell, or Johnson Controls.
  • Ability to interpret control drawings and sequences of operation.
  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to travel extensively across Central Europe.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work within multidisciplinary teams.

Desirable

  • Previous data centre commissioning experience.
  • Knowledge of integrated systems testing (IST).
  • Electrical or controls engineering qualification.
  • Valid passport and eligibility to work across European project locations.
