Role: Commissioning Field Engineer
Location: Base facility in Trowbridge, covering customer sites across the UK so ideally within 1 hour of Trowbridge
Salary: £35,000 - £40,000 approx, DOE
Overtime: time and a half, plus £50 per night where stays are 2 nights or more. To be agreed in advance.
Travel: To customer sites across the UK. Accommodation prepaid by company as required.

Hours: 9-5pm Monday – Friday. Hours on customer sites may vary based on site operations.
About the role
We are a small company based in Trowbridge, Wiltshire, designing, trialling and scaling new technology to change the way waste is handled to minimise landfill. We are looking for someone with experience who is passionate about sustainability and keen for a new challenge in the waste sector.
The role will require regular travel and the need to be flexible on work schedule to support business demands. Travel duration can be anything from 2 days to 2 weeks, with most of the site locations across the UK.
Main Purpose of Job
To become a dependable member of the team, with the ability to support the installation, testing and commissioning of the product range at client locations across the UK.
Working alongside experienced engineers, this role focuses on providing day-to-day site support, assisting with system setup, monitoring performance, and carrying out basic servicing and troubleshooting. More complex technical issues will be supported and guided by senior team members.
The role is hands-on and site-based, ensuring systems are operating as expected and performing troubleshooting activities, while building knowledge and experience over time.

Key responsibilities
- Commission early-stage and newly-installed systems on customer sites across various UK locations.
- Identify and recommend optimisation opportunities
- Support installation of new systems as required
- Support testing and ongoing development work (both on customer sites and in the Trowbridge office)
- Train on-site operatives on how to load and empty the system
- Update maintenance and health & safety documents
- Report updates regularly to wider team, including data capture, progress updates, risks and issues.
People:
- You will work as part of a small Operations team and collaborate closely with engineers, project managers, and technical specialists.
- Build good working relationships across the and supplier network
- Develop positive working relationships with customers on site

- Clearly report work carried out and document any issues identified
- Work both independently on site and as part of a wider team

Key Skills and Experience:
- Some experience in a hands-on or technical role (e.g. engineering, maintenance, mechanical or similar)
- Willingness to learn and develop technical skills on the job
- Basic understanding of mechanical or electrical systems (desirable but not essential)
- Ability to follow processes and work under guidance
- Good attention to detail and problem-solving approach
- Strong communication skills, particularly when working on customer sites
- Comfortable completing reports and recording information accurately
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel and stay away from home regularly

Duties & Responsibilities:
- Support the installation and commissioning of systems
- Assist with servicing and basic maintenance of systems and equipment
- Monitor system performance and report issues or faults
- Carry out basic troubleshooting, escalating more complex issues to senior engineers
- Support customer staff with day-to-day operation of the system
- Produce clear and timely reports following site visits
- Assist in preparing and updating documentation such as RAMS, SOPs and manuals
- Work closely with the wider engineering and operations team
- Follow all health & safety procedures and site requirements
- Support testing activities and system improvements where required
To be successful you will also be expected to
- Assist in planning and preparing work schedules
- Ensure all work is properly documented and reported
- Prepare for site activities, including gathering necessary tools and information
- Use tools and equipment safely and responsibly
