Are you looking for an opportunity to broaden your experience, develop new skills and gain insight into how services are designed, developed and improved?
We're looking for an enthusiastic and motivated colleague to join our Strategic Commissioning Team on a 6 month secondment. Based within the Early Life and Living Well Team, you'll work alongside experienced commissioners who are responsible for services that support working age adults across West Northamptonshire.
This is a great opportunity to step into a role that offers variety, exposure to strategic work and the chance to make a real impact on services that support local people.
As a Commissioning Officer, you'll be part of a friendly and supportive team working across Adult Social Care and wider partnerships. You'll have the opportunity to contribute to projects, service development and improvement work, helping to ensure services continue to meet the needs of residents both now and in the future.
This role offers excellent development opportunities and would suit someone who enjoys working collaboratively, is interested in how services operate and is keen to gain experience in a strategic role.

This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and therefore subject to an enhanced DBS certificate. It is also a regulated activity and will be subject to a Children and Adults Barred List check. What will you be doing?
This is a varied role where you'll have the opportunity to get involved in a wide range of activities.
You Will
- Support projects and initiatives that aim to improve outcomes for working age adults
- Work with colleagues, providers and partners to gather information and understand local needs
- Use data, insight and feedback to help inform decisions and future planning
- Contribute to service reviews, improvement work and commissioning activity
- Build positive relationships with a range of stakeholders across the council and partner organisations
- Support the development of reports, plans and recommendations that help shape services across West Northamptonshire
About You
You may already be thinking about your next development opportunity, or perhaps you're interested in gaining experience in a completely different area of the organisation.
We're looking for someone who is curious, proactive and genuinely interested in improving outcomes for local people. Someone who enjoys understanding how things work, spotting opportunities for improvement and working with others to turn ideas into action.
You'll be a strong relationship builder who enjoys working with a variety of people and perspectives. You'll feel comfortable asking questions, exploring information and contributing your ideas, while remaining open to learning from others. You don't need to have worked in commissioning before, but you'll have an interest in service improvement, collaboration and making a positive difference.
Most importantly, we're looking for someone who brings enthusiasm, initiative and a willingness to learn. If you enjoy variety, like seeing the bigger picture and are looking for an opportunity to develop your skills in a supportive team environment, we'd love to hear from you.
