Job Description We are seeking an experienced Control Room Operators (CRO) to join our Commissioning team on our Riverside II project in Belvedere, London. Start: 26 May 2026 (latest) End: 31 August 2026 (subject to project completion) Shift Pattern: 6 days / 6 nights / 12 days off Day Rate: £500–£550 (depending on experience) Contract Type: Agency / Contractor Role Overview We are seeking an experienced Control Room Operator (CRO) with a background in Energy-from-Waste, biomass, or thermal power generation to support commissioning on a major EfW project. This role combines control room operations with hands-on commissioning support, ideal for operators experienced in plant start-up, testing, and optimisation phases. Key Responsibilities Operate and control boilers, turbines, generators, and associated plant systems via DCS and local control panels Support commissioning and start-up activities, ensuring systems are brought online safely and efficiently Monitor plant performance, alarms, and process parameters, taking corrective action where required Assist with mechanical commissioning tasks (e.g. pump works, filter changes, greasing, system checks) Report operational issues, deviations, and risks to the Commissioning Manager and wider team This posting reflects the main responsibilities of the role and is not exhaustive. Additional duties may evolve in line with project and business requirements. Qualifications Experience & Qualifications Proven experience as a Control Room Operator (CRO) within EfW, biomass, or thermal power plants Strong understanding of boiler operations, steam systems, and power generation processes Experience supporting commissioning, start-up, or outage activities highly desirable Valid safety certification (CCNSG / CSCS / SCC or equivalent) Good understanding of HSEQ standards and safe plant operation Skills & Competencies Confident operating plant via DCS systems in a live or commissioning environment Strong problem-solving ability and calm decision-making under pressure Hands-on, adaptable approach with willingness to support field activities Effective communication within shift teams and across disciplines Safety-first mindset with a proactive approach to risk identification Additional Information Why This Role?
