Commissioning Technician - Permanent Position at RSE
About the Role
Due to continued growth, RSE is looking for a Commissioning Technician to join our permanent team, assisting across England. You will support Control, Instrumentation and Electrical works, including installation, testing, commissioning, and fault-finding for MCCs, industrial instrumentation, analysers, motors, actuators, and other automated control systems used in RSE products and water industry applications.
This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced instrumentation or electrical professional looking to step into a Commissioning role, backed by a knowledgeable and experienced team. Note that flexibility in working locations is required, with accommodation provided by RSE.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Undertake Installation, Testing, Commissioning, and Fault-Finding in RSE workshops or client sites, including:
- Control systems
- Instrumentation
- Electrical works
- Travelling to client sites for problem-solving, fault-finding, or scoping of new projects as required.
- Perform preventative and reactive maintenance on factory equipment scheduled by RSE.
- Read and interpret electrical drawings and line diagrams.
- Complete and sign off testing documentation.
- Measure up for materials, respond to emergencies, and adjust to changes in the work programme, ensuring necessary plant and equipment are acquired.
- Maintain security and serviceability of assigned tools and assets.
- Conduct toolbox talks, risk assessments (MS & RA), and permit reviews.
- Compile risk assessments and method statements in line with company procedures.
- Assess and arrange required certifications and tools for all job tasks.
- Fully complete and deliver all required QA documentation.
- Identify additional work opportunities on-site and escalate to the Project Engineer/Manager.
- Act as an RSE representative, ensuring client satisfaction throughout the project.
- Carry out additional tasks as requested within your skillset and responsibilities.

Requirements & Qualifications
Must-Have Qualifications
- Fully qualified in Instrumentation or Electrical & Electronic discipline, with proven installation and maintenance experience.
- ECS Grading Card must be current with:
- Qualified to SVQ/NVQ Level 3
- SJIB-recognised 18th Edition Inspection & Testing (BS 7671 2012) certification
- Approved Health and Safety Assessment
- Strong grasp of Control and Instrumentation systems.
- Full UK driving licence.
Skills & Attributes
- Excellent communication (written and verbal).
- Ability to use Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Capability to effectively prioritise and execute tasks in high-pressure environments.
- Ability to work flexibly across locations with minimal notice.
