G MASS is seeking an Associate / Senior Analyst to join one of our Investment Banking clients within their Precious Metals Operations function. You will play a central role in supporting the settlement, reconciliation, and risk control processes underpinning the firm's precious metals business, acting as a key point of contact between trading desks and operations.
This role is based in London, and would be an initial 6-12 month contract.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the end-to-end settlement process for precious metals transactions, including physical settlement and delivery of gold bullion, silver, platinum, and palladium.
- Oversee trade reconciliations and cash settlements, ensuring accuracy and timeliness across the trade lifecycle.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies between trade details and confirmations, working closely with internal and external counterparties.
- Serve as liaison between trading desks and operations, providing clear and timely updates on settlement status, issues, and priorities.
- Utilise settlement systems and SWIFT messaging protocols to process and monitor precious metals transactions.
- Apply comprehensive knowledge of precious metals markets, products, and settlement conventions to support day-to-day operations and problem resolution.
- Contribute directly to the risk and control framework, identifying operating model gaps and supporting process improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate closely with middle office, risk & control, and front office teams to ensure smooth operational delivery.
- Maintain awareness of regulatory frameworks governing precious metals trading and settlement, ensuring adherence to relevant requirements.
- Engage confidently with senior operations managers and front office stakeholders, including trading desk personnel, through clear communication and presentation of issues and solutions.

Requirements:

- 2-5+ years' experience in a commodity and/or operations role with substantial exposure to precious metals operations.
- Comprehensive knowledge of precious metals markets, products, and settlement conventions, including physical settlement and delivery.
- Settlement system experience along with familiarity with SWIFT messaging protocols.
- Understanding of the regulatory frameworks governing precious metals trading and settlement.
- Proven experience managing trade reconciliations and cash settlements.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to work accurately under pressure.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the confidence to engage senior stakeholders across operations and the front office.
