Quantitative Analyst – Market Quantitative Analysis (MQA) – Commodities XVA Desk

Location: London Employment Type: Full time


About the Role

The Market Quantitative Analysis (MQA) team is seeking a Quantitative Analyst to join the **front office Commodities Quant team in London, supporting the Commodities XVA desk. The business covers key commodities areas, including:

  • Oil
  • EMEA and NAM Power and Gas
  • Metals
  • Agriculturals
  • Investor Products and Exotics
  • Credit Valuation Adjustment (CVA), with trading arms in London, Houston and New York

Key Responsibilities

The role involves:

  • Developing and supporting modelling and analytics needs for the trading business, requiring close collaboration with trading desks, IT, and control functions.
  • Employing a variety of modelling and pricing techniques to address the complexities of Commodities markets.
  • Designing cutting-edge solutions to enable the business to adapt amid evolving market conditions.

What You’ll Do

Core Duties

  • Develop analytics libraries for pricing and risk management.
  • Create, implement, and support quantitative models using diverse mathematical and computer science methods.
    • Tools: C++, Python, JavaScript, React
    • Techniques: Advanced calculus, hardware acceleration, numerical pricing techniques, Monte Carlo Methods, PDE solvers
  • Collaborate closely with Traders, Structurers, and technology professionals.
  • Partner with control functions (Legal, Compliance, Risk, Audit) to maintain governance, control infrastructure, and responsible finance practices.
    • Prioritise risk assessment, ethical behaviour, and compliance with laws and policies.
  • Become familiar with and adhere to Citi’s Code of Conduct and the Plan of Supervision for Global Markets and Securities Services.
  • Operate within police:value, security, and dy policies applicable to the role.
  • Maintain relevant registrations and licenses promptly.

Key Ethical and Governance Commitments

  • Assess risk-reward in transactions while upholding rigorous oversight.
  • Ensure all team members adhere to responsible business conduct.

  • Safeguard clients, assets, and Citigroup through compliance and ethical decision-making.

Requirements

  • Education: Masters or PhD (or equivalent) in a quantatively related field.
  • Experience:
    • Prior role in quantitative modelling or analytics, ideally within Financial Markets.
    • Proficiency in coding and technical skills:
      • C# .Net, SQL, and C++ core requirements.
      • Exposure to Market Data tools, Statistics, Probability, Risk Analysis.
      • Ability to apply probability theory to assess risks of complex financial instruments.
      • Software design principles expertise.
    • Basic product knowledge in Investments & Quantitative Models.
  • Interpersonal Skills:
    • Clear, concise written and verbal communication in a high-pressure environment.
    • Collaboration with cross-functional teams (Traders, Regulators, Developers).
