Assistant Vice President (C12) Application Support Analyst

About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated Assistant Vice President (C12) to provide L1/L2 technical support for our global Commodities trading platform, focusing on Openlink and Risk Management applications. This role demands a deep understanding of the Commodities asset class, exceptional technical troubleshooting skills, and a passion for delivering excellent customer service to Sales and Trading teams.

Responsibilities

  • Provide timely and effective L1/L2 technical support for the Commodities trading platform, including the Openlink application and its ecosystem.
  • Drive the investigation, diagnosis, and resolution of highly complex application and system issues, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.
  • Troubleshoot and support systems covering market data, static data, trade lifecycle (Openlink), and risk management platforms.
  • Monitor system health and performance, proactively identifying and addressing potential issues to prevent business impact.
  • Support global critical front-office risk batches and end-of-day batch processing.
  • Collaborate closely with traders, business analysts, developers, and infrastructure teams to resolve incidents and implement lasting solutions.
  • Manage the incident lifecycle, from initial report to resolution, including:
    • Root cause analysis
    • Post-mortem reviews
  • Participate in a rotational on-call schedule covering weekends and bank holidays.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive support documentation, including:
    • Knowledgebase articles
    • Runbooks
  • Support the planning and execution of application deployments, upgrades, and disaster recovery tests.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation to enhance system stability and support efficiency.

Key Skills and Experience – Required

  • Previous experience working directly with traders and front-office Commodities teams, including:
    • Physical and financial Commodities (e.g., oil, natural gas, power, metals, agriculture)
    • Openlink application support
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Risk and P&L
    • Risk management platforms
  • Proficiency in SQL and experience with relational databases such as:
    • Oracle
    • SQL Server
  • Scripting skills in:
    • Python
    • Juniper Notebooks
    • Shell scripting
    • (For automation and troubleshooting)
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication, adaptable to:
    • Technical and non-technical audiences
  • Ability to perform effectively in high-pressure, fast-paced trading environments
  • Experience with enterprise monitoring tools, including:
    • ITRS Geneos, Splunk, Grafana or similar frameworks
  • Familiarity with ITIL framework, including best practices for:
    • Incident management
    • Problem management
    • Change management
