About the Role
Shape the commodity strategy of a global FMCG business, working hand-in-hand with procurement leadership and category managers. This is a high-impact, commercially focused role where you’ll blend commodity market intelligence, quantitative analysis, and financial risk management to drive strategic sourcing decisions across a global supply chain.
Key focus areas include:
- Agricultural commodities (cocoa, wheat, sugar, vegetable oils)
- Market volatility management
- Hedging strategies to mitigate risk
- Data-driven procurement optimisation
While experience in agricultural commodities is highly valued, candidates from metals, energy, or broader commodity backgrounds—with strong hedging and analytics expertise—are also encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop market intelligence and commodity research for global agricultural, energy, and industrial commodities.
- Build and refine supply-demand-price forecasting models to predict trends.
- Conduct deep analysis of macroeconomic, geopolitical, and market fundamentals to identify risks and opportunities.
- Develop actionable commodity outlooks that directly shape global procurement strategy.
- Design and execute commodity hedging programs, including futures, options, swaps, and other financial instruments.
- Monitor and report on hedge positions, ensuring exposure transparency and governance compliance.
- Collaborate with senior procurement stakeholders on sourcing strategy and supplier negotiations.
- Drive digital transformation in procurement via improved analytics, reporting, and market intelligence tools.
- Present complex market insights to global commercial leadership across multiple regions.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
