Commodity Broker / International Deal Originator

About the Role

We are seeking experienced, motivated, and commercially driven Commodity Brokers to originate and develop international trading opportunities.

The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying credible buyers, sellers, and mandates, developing relationships, qualifying opportunities, and bringing commercially viable transactions to our team.

Our role is to support the broker by facilitating the transaction through supplier and buyer engagement, commercial structuring, documentation, due diligence, logistics coordination, and deal execution.

This position is suited to professionals who understand that successful commodity brokerage requires discipline, credibility, persistence, and the ability to distinguish genuine opportunities from unqualified enquiries.

Key Responsibilities

  • Originate new commodity trading opportunities through your existing network and active business development.
  • Develop relationships with buyers, suppliers, importers, distributors, industrial users, and authorized mandates.
  • Identify and approach credible counterparties across international markets.
  • Qualify each opportunity by establishing the commodity, specification, quantity, destination, target price, payment terms, and transaction procedure.
  • Obtain the necessary documentation, including LOIs, ICPOs, company profiles, KYC documents, and evidence of financial capability where required.
  • Present opportunities clearly and professionally to the internal execution team.
  • Maintain regular communication with counterparties throughout the transaction process.
  • Assist with commercial negotiations and ensure expectations remain realistic and aligned.
  • Protect the confidentiality and commercial interests of all parties involved.
  • Maintain an organized pipeline of active leads, negotiations, and transactions.
  • Work closely with our team as transactions progress through FCO, SPA, payment instrument, logistics, and delivery stages.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
