Location: Larbert or Scarborough
Our Vision & Why It Matters
At Alexander Dennis, our vision is to lead the evolution of sustainable on-road mass transportation and mobility.
We design, deliver, and support market-leading buses and coaches that help reduce emissions, improve air quality, and keep communities connected. Every role contributes to that mission whether you're engineering, driving sales, improving production, or supporting our customers.
What You'll Do
As a Commodity Buyer, you will take ownership of a defined group of commodities, driving value through effective sourcing, supplier management, and cost reduction initiatives. You'll develop and implement commodity strategies aligned to business objectives, lead supplier negotiations, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure performance, quality, and commercial success across the supply chain.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for a commercially astute procurement professional with experience managing commodities and supplier relationships in a fast-paced environment. You'll be confident in negotiation, capable of influencing stakeholders, and skilled at analysing market trends to deliver value. Strong communication, organisation, and the ability to work collaboratively across teams are key to success in this role.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
