Commodity Manager
Senior Commodity Strategy Lead
A Snapshot of Your Day
In this dynamic role, you will:
- Lead a cross-functional group to create and implement a commodity strategy driving positive change in the supply chain.
- Secure buy-in across non-reporting teams by openly communicating the vision for the commodity and adapting the strategy to respond to the changing market environment.
- Define the strategic direction for the supply chain, identifying key suppliers for partnerships while staying ahead of new technology trends and supplier capabilities.
- Collaborate with cross-functional colleagues to implement the strategy through a commodity circle, ensuring clear and open communication across all facets of the supply chain.
- Maintain and report key performance indicators (KPIs) to track progress and keep core partners informed.
How You’ll Make An Impact
Responsibilities include:
- Developing and executing the commodity strategy, working with other functions to create a self-sustaining commodity circle for proactive engagement.
- Aligning the strategy with business needs (cost, quality, lead time, capacity) and providing regular feedback through KPIs.
- Providing strategic supply solutions, including:
- Dual/multiple sourcing options.
- Alternative regional and low-cost country options.
- Working with Engineering to incorporate innovations (e.g., materials, modification methods).
- Managing supplier relationships via face-to-face visits and quarterly business reviews, reviewing contract status, quality, delivery performance, and partnership alignment.
- Negotiating price agreements and framework contracts for sustainable partnerships.

What You Bring
Qualifications & Experience
- Preferred: **Degree in a commercial (e.g., Supply Chain Management) or technical field (e.g., Engineering, Metallurgy). (Relevant industry experience considered instead of formal qualifications.)
- 5+ years in strategic purchasing/supplier-facing roles with strong negotiation experience managed high-value contracts and strategic sourcing initiatives.
- Proven track record of influencing external stakeholders and managing cross-functional dynamics.
Technical & Industry Knowledge
- Experience working with Forging or other metal-forming processes would be a great asset.
- Familiarity with industry-standard governance in high-risk sectors (e.g., Aerospace, Nuclear, Oil & Gas).
- Membership of professional chartered bodies (MCIPS, IOM3, IMechE, IET) highly regarded.
Competencies
- Outstanding communication skills, with proven influence across levels and departments.
- Commercial acumen with a focus on total cost optimisation and sustainability.

- Low/zero-emission power technologies.
- Gas turbines, steam turbines, and generators under one platform.
