Senior Commodity Manager

Salary Range

  • €65,000 – €85,000 per annum (depending on experience and capabilities)

About the Role

We’re seeking a Senior Commodity Manager to develop, prioritise, and implement short- and long-term strategies that optimise supply chain efficiency and reduce complexity. You’ll refine supplier bases for critical components while ensuring consistent material productivity improvements.

Key Responsibilities

In this strategic role, you’ll be responsible for:

  • Strategy & Optimisation

    • Develop and execute commodity strategies that meet goals for quality, cost, delivery, and inventory.
    • Analyse market conditions and geopolitical risks to mitigate supply chain vulnerabilities.
  • Supplier Relationships & Negotiations

    • Build strong, collaborative relationships with key suppliers to align contract terms.
    • Negotiate agreements covering discounts, payment/shipping terms, inventory controls, and quality parameters.

  • Cross-Functional Leadership

    • Lead cross-functional teams to reduce product complexity and drive supplier performance improvements.
    • Work with engineering, marketing, sales, and production teams to enhance reliability.
  • Continuity & Digital Innovation

    • Implement advanced supply chain resiliency measures, including business continuity plans (BCPs).
    • Leverage digital tools and analytics to improve forecasting and decision-making.

Requirements

Experience & Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in commodity management (industrial or hygienic pump segments preferred).
    • Specialisation in iron/aluminum casting, metal fabrication, machining, electronics, or plastics a plus.
    • Familiarity with machined castings or forged parts sourcing preferred.
  • Professional certifications such as APICS or CPM valued.

Professional Skills

  • Strong analytical and technical aptitudes with engineering proficiency (e.g., interpreting blueprints).
  • Advanced cost reduction and 80/20 strategy application.
  • Experience in cross-border supply base management and supply chain resilience.
  • APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) experience preferred.

Computer Proficiency

  • Expertise in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and ERP systems.

Work Environment

  • Hybrid (preference)/remote role with up to 25% travel (domestic and international).
  • Requires physical mobility across an office-manufacturing setup.
  • General office, warehouse, and light manufacturing floor exposure.

ORGANISATIONAL COLLABORATION

This role demands:

  • Effective communication with suppliers, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams (engineering, procurement, sales, manufacturing).
  • Leadership as the primary interface to Viking Pump Supply Chain & Cross-Uunctional Global Teams.

Salary & Incentives

  • Competitive €65,000 – €85,000 salary range (adjusted for qualifications, experience, and additional objective factors).
  • Potential to earn through bonuses, incentives, and ongoing development opportunities.
