About The Venetian Forum
The Venetian Forum is not a typical conference. We are a new, purpose-driven gathering that convenes visionary thinkers, activists, and leaders to address the most pressing issues facing the city of Venice. Our mission is to move beyond discussion and spark actionable solutions for the city's future. We are building a distinctive brand and a powerful community of changemakers who are looking for a conference that makes a real impact. We are seeking a passionate and creative intern to help us define and amplify this message to the world.
Position Overview (5-6 months unpaid)
This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated student or recent graduate to gain hands-on experience in purpose-driven communications and branding. As our Communications & Brand Intern, you will be an integral part of our small team, supporting to shape the conference's public image and build a global community around its mission. You will work closely with the organising team to develop and execute a communications strategy that attracts "special people"—innovative and influential individuals—to our event and promotes Venice as a hub for problem-solving.
This internship is designed as a learning experience where you can build your portfolio, receive mentorship, and contribute to a meaningful cause. We are happy to work with educational institutions to arrange for academic credit where applicable.
Key Responsibilities
You will support our mission by:
- Brand & Content Development: Assisting in defining and articulating The Venetian Forum's unique brand voice and narrative. You will help develop compelling stories and messaging that highlight the conference's impact, its mission to aid Venice, and its appeal to forward-thinking attendees.
- Digital & Social Media: Helping to manage our social media presence (LinkedIn, Instagram, etc.) by creating engaging content (graphics, short videos, text) that builds a community around the conference's themes. This includes scheduling posts, monitoring engagement, and reporting on performance.
- Public Relations & Outreach: Assisting in the research and development of media lists and outreach to potential speakers, partners, and media outlets. You will help draft press releases, email newsletters, and other communications to build excitement and awareness for the conference.
- Community & Influencer Engagement: Helping to identify and reach out to "special people"—key influencers, thinkers, and professionals—who align with the conference's mission. This involves researching potential attendees and creating personalised communications to invite them to participate.
- Event Support: Providing support for the planning and execution of pre-conference and on-site events, helping to ensure a seamless and impactful experience for participants.

Who You Are
We are looking for someone who is:
- A Mission-Driven Communicator: You are passionate about the power of communication to solve problems and excited about contributing to a project that supports the city of Venice. You have a strong interest in topics such as sustainability, urban development, and cultural preservation.
- Creative & Proactive: You are a self-starter with a creative mindset and the confidence to contribute fresh ideas. You are eager to learn and take ownership of projects.
- Digitally Savvy: You are proficient with social media platforms and comfortable creating visual content using tools like Canva or Adobe Creative Suite or similar. You understand how to tailor content for different channels.
- An Excellent Writer: You have outstanding written and verbal communication skills in English, with a keen eye for detail. You can adapt your writing style for various audiences, from social media posts to professional emails.
- Organised & Collaborative: You have strong organisational skills and can manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. You are a collaborative team player who is also comfortable working independently.
Qualifications & Experience
- Currently enrolled in or a recent graduate of a Bachelor's or Master's program in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, International Relations, or a related field.
- Experience with, or a strong interest in, social media strategy and content creation.
- Basic knowledge of media relations and PR principles is a plus.
- Native or near-native proficiency in English is mandatory; knowledge of Italian is a significant asset.
- A portfolio or samples of your work (writing, design, social media campaigns) are highly desirable.
