Position Overview:

Reporting to the Telecommunications Manager, you will provide excellent customer service in delivering switchboard and locating services in a respectful and customer-oriented manner for Scarborough Health Network include monitoring alarm panels and initiating emergency codes and downtime procedures. You will also protect and promote patient’s right to privacy, confidentiality and dignity. You will be scheduled to work at the Centenary, General or Birchmount hospital based upon departmental needs.


Requirements:

  • Minimum Grade 12 education
  • Typing skills with a minimum of 30 wpm (Words Per Minute) and 90% accuracy (Typing test will be administered)
  • Excellent computer skills including Word, Excel, Outlook and the Internet with the ability to perform searches for information
  • Good command of English language
  • Excellent Customer Service Skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Dependable, and able to remain calm in emergency or stressful situations
  • Available to fill in for vacation, sick time, and statutory holidays as required
  • Available to work all shifts i.e. days, afternoons, evenings, and nights including statutory holidays
  • Able to work with minimum supervision
  • Ability to work for long periods in a seated position
  • Ability to work consistently with a keyboard and number pad
  • Job involves sitting, standing, bending, reaching and ability to lift approximately 10lbs as needed
  • Ability to engage with staff and public in a professional and respectful manner
  • Utilize protective equipment provided, identify and reports hazards
  • Demonstrates values consistent with SHN's Code of Conduct and is committed to fostering a healthy and positive work environment in accordance with Health & Safety policy and legislation.
  • Engages in ethical conduct and strives to understand and appreciate the diversity of our patient/staff population and community.
