We're hiring for a full-time, fixed-term (12 month maternity cover) Communications and Engagement Manager to join the region team at Girlguiding South West England.

As part of the region team, the Communications and Engagement Manager will lead the communications and marketing team to ensure the delivery of the Girlguiding South West England region strategy. They will be responsible for maintaining our reach and impact through the positive promotion of Girlguiding South West England to external audiences, engagement with press, leading on partnerships and our ambassador scheme, supporting our membership through effective internal communications and deliver a range of digital content which supports our strategy.

This is a management level role, 35 hours to be worked over 5 days (Monday to Friday) and will require the job holder to work a minimum of 3 days at the region office in Salisbury.

Main Areas of Responsibility:

  • Manage a small team, specifically line managing the Marketing and Communications Officer and Social Media Officer.
  • Be the staff lead for and support the Chief Commissioner team and Lead Volunteers in the delivery of the Inclusive and Impactful aspect of the region strategy.
  • Lead on all partnerships, ensuring projects run smoothly, acting as the main point of contact for existing partners, and exploring new opportunities. Also take responsibility for ongoing due diligence and partner risk management.
  • Oversee the region ambassador scheme.
  • Build and strengthen relationships with the press and media, leading on press releases and other PR opportunities, and working with region staff and volunteers to maximise the impact of events and activities through press coverage and public engagement.
  • Lead on the delivery of the 2027 region roadshows including managing budgets and coordinating with venues to ensure the smooth delivery of these events.
  • Administrative support for the Inclusive and Impactful committee.
  • Oversee digital content, promotional design material and information created for region website(s), social media and communications by the region Communications and Marketing team. Ensuring branding is correct and tone of voice is followed across all regional communications.
  • Ensure GDPR practices are followed correctly, confidential information is handled appropriately, and photographic and videographic consent is collected and stored securely.
