Communications and Marketing Manager

Company Description

Childnet International is a UK charity whose mission is to work with others to help make the internet a great and safe place for children and young people. Childnet creates educational resources for children, families, educators, and professionals to address emerging trends in the rapidly changing online environment. Youth voice is at the centre of everything Childnet does, by delivering training and education sessions, to running youth advisory boards, we ensure young people’s voices are heard in the online safety space. As a partner in the UK Safer Internet Centre, Childnet also coordinates Safer Internet Day in the UK, working with a wide range of stakeholders to promote safe and responsible technology use.

Role Description

The Communications and Marketing Manager is a full-time role responsible for planning, delivering, and evaluating Childnet’s communications and marketing strategy. The role involves managing digital channels, including the website, email newsletters, and social media, to effectively engage children, young people, families, educators, and other partners.

Day-to-day tasks include:

  • Creating clear and compelling content
  • Overseeing communications campaigns for events such as Safer Internet Day
  • Coordinating Childnet's press and media activity
  • Ensuring consistent branding and messaging across all materials

This role will collaborate closely with the wider Childnet team to promote resources, events, and initiatives, and will monitor analytics to improve reach and impact. This is a hybrid role based in Greater London, with one day a week in office.

Person Specification

Essential:

  • A strong commitment to Childnet’s mission and values. See www.childnet.com/what-we-do/vision-and-values
  • Relevant experience in marketing and communications preferably within the education and/or charity sector
  • Experience creating, managing, and developing digital content to promote and market programmes or products
  • Experience in devising and implementing effective communications and marketing strategies
  • Experience of social media advertising
  • Experience of line management
  • Experience of delivering research and creating reports which are easily accessible and understandable for diverse audiences
  • Experience using a CRM system, preferably Salesforce
  • Ability to mobilise and sustain innovation within a small organisation
  • Experience of media outreach and an understanding of local, regional, and national media
  • Track record of successfully managing projects and programmes with multiple and conflicting priorities to deadline and budget
  • Working knowledge of GDPR and data protection legislation in the context of marketing and communications

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of the education marketplace and the needs of teachers and schools
  • Familiarity with Wordpress CMS
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud with some knowledge of design
  • Experience of working in a small team
  • Experience acting as a media spokesperson
  • Understanding of safeguarding when working with children
