Purpose of the role
As a Communications Consultant, you will be a part of a project team working closely with a client to deliver effective change. As a subject matter expert in your field, you'll provide consultancy on strategic communications and engagement of stakeholders through a change journey. You'll take a lead role in stakeholder management and developing and managing internal and external communications approaches and plans, including training and new ways of working.
You'll need to think creatively and innovatively to design and deliver impactful communications that align to the projects key messages and tailored to key stakeholder groups. You'll have a knack for engaging and building rapport with clients, along with the ability to work to tight deadlines and budgets.
Responsibilities
Your responsibilities will encompass a range of critical tasks, including conducting thorough stakeholder analyses and client due diligence assessments to gain a comprehensive understanding of our client's unique needs. You'll then be responsible for developing and meticulously managing our communication approach and detailed plan, ensuring it aligns seamlessly with our project plan and key activities. Leveraging your expertise, you'll optimize the use of relevant communication channels, best practices, and the latest technology to deliver impactful communications that leave a lasting impression and call for repeat business.
Your role will also involve developing positive working relationships with key stakeholder groups through regular site visits and engagement activities. Collaborating closely with our workstream leads, you'll be responsible for effectively communicating key project deliverables and timeframes, ensuring that all stakeholders are well-informed and aligned with our goals.

You will take ownership of communication documentation, ensuring it aligns seamlessly with our client's branding and adheres to established guidelines.
As Communications Consultant you will play a pivotal role in managing and updating the Communication and Engagement Teamspace area, creating a hub of best practice examples and providing complete visibility of documentation for the team and getting them involved in projects where needed.
Stakeholder Management
- Identify and analyse key stakeholders, both internal and external, to the key project organisations.
- Develop comprehensive stakeholder mapping to understand their needs, concerns, and communication preferences
- Create strategies for building and maintaining positive relationships with stakeholders.
Communications Planning
- Develop and implement a comprehensive communications strategy aligned with the projects goals and objectives.
- Craft clear and effective messaging for the identified stakeholder groups.
- Plan, execute and manage communication collateral, including timelines, channels, and resources allocation.
Content Creation & Sign Off
- Produce high-quality content for the identified communication channels, i.e. press releases, vlog posts, social media updates, internal newsletters, videos.
- Ensure all content is accurate, consistent with brand guidelines, and aligned with the agreed messaging strategies.
- Obtain necessary approvals and sign-offs for content from relevant stakeholders.
Training and Engagement Plans
- Identify skills gaps for the project and support with the development of a training plan/matrix.
- Support with the facilitation of workshops or training sessions to enhance the communication skills of team members.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and make adjustments as needed.

Requirements
- Proven track record in a communications role, managing communications plans with expertise in digital channels
- Highly experience in stakeholder management and engagement across diverse audiences
- Creativity in presenting of substantial information in a visual, concise and comprehensible format.
- Ability to work productively as part of a team and independently using initiative and time management to deliver against tight deadlines
- Meticulous attention to detail evident in all responsibilities.
- A nuanced understanding of politically sensitive subjects, paired with a strong commitment to upholding confidentiality.
- Exceptional organisational skills complemented by precise record-keeping capabilities.
- Strong IT proficiency, particularly with SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, and core Microsoft software. Knowledge of various social media platforms would be advantageous.
