Role Overview
We are seeking a proactive and skilled Communications Coordinator to manage the Department's digital presence, and promote our world-class research and teaching activities. This role is integral to enhancing the Department's visibility and reputation, both within and outside the University.
Responsibilities
- Manage the Department's websites and social media
- Support teaching via digital platforms
- Promote the Department's research through press releases, blogs, and other media
- Provide guidance to researchers on social media usage for research promotion
- Assist researchers with public engagement and outreach projects
- Advise on research group/facility websites as needed
- Coordinate outreach activities attracting high-calibre students from diverse backgrounds
- Provide administrative support alongside organising meetings, events (conferences, workshops), and school engagement initiatives
- Identify and secure funding for outreach activities
- Track budgets and manage event logistics, such as health and safety
- Liaise with the University Communications Office on branding and external relations
- Coordinate marketing materials for undergraduate/graduate programmes
- Develop and implement the Department's communications strategy
- Gather and analyse feedback from events to inform future planning to enhance Department visibility

Requirements
- Proven/developing experience working in a communications role with a track record of writing and producing content for digital and online channels
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong technical literacy
- Ability to understand and communicate complex scientific and educational concepts to diverse audiences
- Proficient organisational and IT skills (including web content systems)
- Willingness to occasionally work outside normal hours for events

Role Details
- Part-time role, at 0.8 FTE (29.2 hours per week), precise hours and working pattern can be discussed at interview
- Salary is pro-rata to the hours worked/FTE
