Communications Lead – Private Sector

Location: Home Based - GBR, United Kingdom Time Type: Full time Contract Type: Permanent

We are looking for a Communications Lead to join Capita Pensions Solutions in our Consulting business. You will manage a high-performing communications team and lead the client partnerships and strategic direction of our private sector consulting clients in the pensions space.

This role requires proactive management and accountability for delivering a top-tier service, ensuring client satisfaction, driving growth, and enhancing our commercial profitability.

You will be the key client contact, leading the charge in all aspects of the day-to-day service, quality, and standards. Additionally, you’ll manage a talented team, ensuring their professional development and the overall operational success of our Communications projects.

You will own the business plan for your team, including revenue generation, client communication growth, and collaboration with the Market Leaders, Client Relationship Directors and the Business Development team to secure organic opportunities.

Key Accountabilities

Client Development & Delivery

  • Lead the end-to-end service and relationship management for clients, ensuring the highest quality of work and client satisfaction.
  • Engage in senior stakeholder management, providing consultancy and strategic direction through meetings, workshops, and calls.
  • Collaborate closely with internal teams and subject matter experts to deliver comprehensive solutions that meet client needs including digital, CX and Education.
  • Develop and implement retirement communication strategies, aligning them with overarching business goals.
  • Oversee project and campaign planning, ensuring alignment with the client's strategic objectives.
  • Ensure the quality and accuracy of project deliverables, particularly complex copy and communication materials.
  • Support communication ROI through measurement, analytics, and insights.
  • Drive client profitability and growth, managing risk and solving problems proactively.

Team Leadership

  • Line manage a team of Account Managers and Account Executives, providing mentorship and coaching.
  • Monitor and evaluate team performance, ensuring continuous improvement and success.

Relationship Building

  • Cultivate strong internal and external relationships, enabling effective consulting and collaboration with clients.
  • Become a trusted advisor to senior client stakeholders, promoting our services and encouraging business growth.
  • Resolve conflicts proactively, seeking outcomes that satisfy all stakeholders.
  • Represent our company positively among colleagues, providing leadership and support as needed.

Administration

  • Lead by example in governance, ensuring adherence to processes and accountability within your team.
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of project reports, timing plans, and status updates.
  • Maintain precise records of all chargeable and non-chargeable time, overseeing the invoicing process, as appropriate.

Business Planning & Revenue Ownership

  • Drive the execution of yearly client development plans, identifying opportunities for growth.
  • Contribute to the preparation and delivery of proposals and presentations for new business and marketing opportunities.
  • Represent the company at new business pitches, meetings, and client onboarding sessions.
  • Develop client case studies and secure testimonials to showcase our success.

Strategic Insight & Innovation

  • Stay abreast of pension industry trends, member behaviour, and regulatory changes (e.g. dashboards, GMP).
  • Champion innovation in digital engagement, behavioural nudges, and inclusive communications.
  • Lead the development of scalable engagement frameworks for DB (and DC) schemes.

What Are We Looking For

  • Experience in the pension sector.
  • Have worked in a communications team with your own client portfolio, this can be either in-house or with a provider.
  • Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams and capable of managing multiple, complex projects under tight deadlines.
  • Proven experience in client relationship management, delivery leadership, and commercial planning.
  • Strong consulting skills, including proactive problem-solving, active listening, and a collaborative approach.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
