Communications Officer
Communications Officer
Salary: £28,000–£35,000 FTE (Actual salary: £16,800–£21,000 pro rata) Hours: 22.5 hours per week (flexible working pattern to be agreed) Location: Remote, with travel to CLI offices as required Contract: Permanent
About the Role
This is more than a communications role—it’s an opportunity to shape how an organisation is seen, understood, and remembered.
You’ll take ownership of CLI’s communications and marketing activity, leading our:
- Digital presence
- Campaigns
- Public relations
- Brand development
Working closely with the Data & Performance Manager and Senior Management Team, you’ll have the freedom to:
- Bring fresh ideas
- Develop new approaches
- Ensure every communication reflects CLI’s purpose and values
From creating social media campaigns, producing video content, managing the website, engaging local media, to supporting recruitment—no two days will be the same.
We’re looking for someone who:
- Enjoys taking ownership
- Thinks strategically
- Isn’t afraid to roll up their sleeves to execute great ideas
What You’ll Be Doing
- Developing and delivering CLI’s communications and marketing strategy
- Creating engaging content across:
- Social media
- Website
- Digital platforms
- Producing:
- Graphics
- Photography
- Short-form video content
- Building relationships with:
- Local media
- Partners
- Stakeholders
- Planning campaigns to:
- Increase awareness
- Foster engagement
- Drive support
- Managing and developing CLI’s website
- Protecting and strengthening CLI’s brand identity and tone of voice
- Using data and insights to improve communications continuously
- Supporting:
- Events
- Recruitment campaigns
- Organisational growth
- Exploring new technologies and AI tools to enhance communication methods

About You
You’ll be:
- A confident communicator with excellent writing skills
- Passionate about creating meaningful content
You may have:
- Experience in communications, marketing, PR, digital media, or brand management
- Comfort working independently while collaborating across the organisation
Additional strengths:
- Experience delivering successful communications or marketing campaigns
- Proficiency in:
- Digital content creation
- Canva
- Social media
- Video content creation or editing experience
- Strong organisation skills and attention to detail
- Creativity, initiative, and a solutions-focused mindset
- Ability to turn ideas into measurable, engaging campaigns
A passion for using communications to make a positive difference is essential.
Experience within the charity, community, or social impact sector is welcomed but not required.
