THIS POST IS FIXED TERM FOR 6 MONTHS TO MEET THE NEEDS OF THE SERVICE
Public Health Wales is seeking a Communications Officer to join the News and External Affairs team on a fixed-term contract until January 2027. You will develop and deliver communications campaigns, identify and promote news stories, respond to media enquiries, and support public communications during health incidents and outbreaks. The role involves writing and editing press releases, articles, publications, and digital content, while providing communications advice to colleagues and stakeholders. You will work closely with media, local government, third-sector organisations, and communities across Wales. Applicants should have a degree or equivalent experience, excellent communication skills, media knowledge, and experience delivering communications campaigns. Flexible working arrangements are welcomed. Occasional travel across Wales is required.
This is a Fixed Term Contract for 6 months until 28 January 2027 with a possibility of extension until 31st March 2027 due to the needs of the service.

The post holder will be responsible for:
- Identifying, prioritising and developing news content for dissemination to media contacts and for publication through Public Health Wales digital channels.
- Promoting our evidence and research.
- Communicating information to the public relating to incidents and outbreaks of communicable diseases.
- Responding to reactive media enquiries across a broad range of public health areas.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
