Communications Officer

Communications Officer – Mediacasts / Oxford City Council

Oxford is a wonderful city, and the City Council is working to enhance it through innovative projects:

  • A £9m annual investment to tackle homelessness
  • Construction of hundreds of new homes for families and young people
  • Grassroots community and leisure facility funding to address health and social inequality
  • VS. net-zero ambition, faster than any UK city

At the heart of this progress lies communications—shaping resident collaboration, climate awareness, and community engagement. This role is for a communicator exceptional at storytelling across digital, social, and traditional platforms.

Role Purpose

Develop and execute campaigns that position Oxford City Council as an effective, efficient, value-for-money service provider.

Core focus areas:

  • Securing and managing media coverage of council actions, policies, and decisions at local, national, and specialist levels.
  • Driving innovation in engagement strategies and creative communications initiatives.
  • Overseeing corporate publications, ensuring clarity, quality, and alignment with the Council’s priorities.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
