Arriva is one of Europe's leading passenger transport operators, employing around 35,000 people across 11 countries and delivering more than 1.5 billion passenger journeys each year.
As we continue an exciting period of transformation and growth, we're looking for a highly organised and proactive Communications Operations Coordinator to join our Group Communications team on a six-month fixed-term contract.
This is an exciting opportunity to work at the heart of a busy, high-profile communications function, supporting strategic programmes including One Arriva and our Brand Equity programme. You'll play a vital role in keeping projects, plans and communications activity running smoothly, ensuring teams stay aligned, deadlines are met and stakeholders remain informed.
We're looking for someone who thrives on organisation, enjoys bringing structure to complexity and takes pride in making things happen behind the scenes. Whether your background is in communications, project coordination, administration or operations, this role offers valuable exposure to internal communications, brand and strategic business initiatives across an international organisation.
This role operates on a hybrid basis, with a minimum of three days per week in either our Sunderland (Doxford) or London (Lacon House) office and flexibility to work remotely for the remainder of the week.

- Coordinate communications projects, meetings and workshops involving colleagues and external partners.
- Maintain communications plans, schedules and key project documentation.
- Track actions, milestones and deadlines, helping ensure activity stays on track.
- Support the administration of internal communication channels, including our Group intranet.
- Assist with the creation and formatting of communications materials, presentations and briefing documents.
- Produce updates, reports and meeting notes to support effective decision-making.
- Build strong relationships across the business, acting as a key point of contact for coordination and planning activities.
- Help identify opportunities to improve processes, planning and ways of working across the Communications team.
- Provide flexible support across communications, brand and employee engagement initiatives as priorities evolve.
About You
You'll be an organised and detail-oriented professional who enjoys working with multiple stakeholders and managing competing priorities.
We're Particularly Interested In Candidates Who Have
- Experience in a coordinator, administrator, communications support, project support or operations role.
- Excellent organisational and planning skills with strong attention to detail.
- Experience managing diaries, meetings, schedules and deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Confidence building relationships and coordinating activity across different teams.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft 365, including Outlook, Teams, Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
- The ability to work independently, prioritise effectively and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
- A professional approach to handling confidential information.

It Would Be Great If You Also Have
- Experience supporting communications, marketing, corporate affairs or engagement teams.
- Intranet or digital channel administration experience.
- SharePoint knowledge.
- Experience supporting projects, programmes or governance processes.
- Experience working within a large, complex or multi-site organisation.
- Event, workshop or leadership meeting coordination experience.
