Communications System Engineer

Unified Communications & Digital Workplace Engineer

📍 London (Hybrid) – 3 days on-site in the City of London 💰 £500 per day (Inside IR35) 📅 6 months (initial term)

A leading financial services organisation is seeking a Unified Communications & Digital Workplace Engineer to support and modernise its global communications environment.

This is a communication-first role, ideal for an engineer with expertise in Cisco UC / telephony and AV, comfortable working across infrastructure, cloud, and Microsoft 365. Operating in a highly regulated environment, the role plays a critical part in ensuring secure, compliant, and auditable communications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and support enterprise communications platforms, including Cisco UC and collaboration tools
  • Lead the transition from legacy telephony → Microsoft Teams and cloud-based voice solutions
  • Support and manage AV and meeting room estate
  • Ensure all communications are fully compliant, recorded, and auditable across voice and collaboration platforms
  • Act as a key technical contact for compliance recording and regulatory requirements
  • Contribute to infrastructure support across servers, networking, and cloud platforms
  • Troubleshoot issues across voice, network, endpoint, and cloud layers
  • Support both BAU (business as usual) and project delivery in an Agile environment

Key Requirements

  • Strong Unified Communications / Voice engineering background, with expertise in:
    • Cisco UC (CUCM), SIP, telephony, gateways
  • Experience managing AV / meeting room environments
  • Strong understanding of regulated communications and compliance recording
  • Broader infrastructure experience, including:
    • Windows Server / Active Directory
    • Networking fundamentals (DNS, firewalls, QoS)
    • Cloud / Microsoft 365 / Teams
  • Experience supporting or delivering telephony / collaboration migrations
  • Comfortable operating across multiple technology domains (not siloed)
  • Highly desirable: Experience working within Financial Services
