Communications Test & Learn Squad Lead - 12 Month Secondment

Test and Learn Squad Lead – Strategy and Transformation at Tesco

About the Role

We’re recruiting for a Test and Learn Squad Lead within the Strategy and Transformation team at Tesco.

In this role, you will lead a Rapid Test and Learn squad focused on continuously experimenting to identify, refine, and scale the most effective ways to engage customers and drive valuable behaviours.

Key Responsibilities

Delivery and Performance of the Squad

  • Lead end-to-end delivery of the Test and Learn agenda, from idea generation through to scaled execution.
  • Own key performance outcomes, including:
    • Number of tests run
    • Percentage of winning tests
    • Percentage of tests scaled
    • Incremental sales and profit delivered through testing and scaling initiatives
  • Ensure a strong balance of speed, quality, and impact, prioritising meaningful learning over sheer volume.

Translating Learning into Growth

  • Ensure insights from tests are clear, actionable, and reused across the business.
  • Drive the transition from test → optimise → scale, preventing promising ideas from stagnating.
  • Build a culture of evidence-based decision making within and beyond the squad.

Shaping Priorities and Direction

  • Represent Test and Learn in the Customer Planning Flow to prioritise focus based on high-impact opportunities.
  • Actively challenge and refine the backlog to maximise value.
  • Partner with commercial, product, and channel teams to align testing priorities with growth goals.

Removing Barriers and Enabling Pace

  • Work with fellow squad leads to mitigate dependencies across data, technology, creative, and channels.
  • Identify systemic friction and improve operational efficiency in Test and Learn.
  • Ensure the squad can operate quickly without compromising governance or quality.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
