Community Activator Coach (Level 2 Apprentice)
An exciting opportunity to further develop the community-focused activities at this inclusive Multi-Sport facility offering Hockey, Tennis, Squash, Cricket, and Snooker. Ideal candidates will be people-focused with a passion for sport and its benefits.
Are you passionate about sport, community wellbeing, and helping others thrive? We’re looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join us as a Community Activator Coach (Level 2 Apprentice). This is an exciting opportunity to develop your skills, gain recognised qualifications, and play a meaningful role in inclusive community programmes.
About the Role
As an apprentice, you’ll support and help deliver a range of community-focused activities designed to improve health, wellbeing, and social connection. You’ll be part of a welcoming and supportive team, working alongside experienced coaches and dedicated volunteers.
Key Responsibilities
- Support our community-driven programmes, including:
- A weekly Sporting Memories dementia club
- A walking sports programme
- Love to Move sessions for individuals with cognitive conditions
- Assist coaches in delivering junior tennis, cricket, and hockey sessions, with the opportunity to gain Level 1 and Level 2 coaching qualifications
- Help develop and grow our schools outreach programme, working with local primary and secondary schools (with guidance from Head Coaches, progressing to leading the programme independently)
- Learn how to research and write grant applications to support new and existing community projects
- Contribute to the day-to-day running of the club, including reception, membership support, and front-of-house duties

Course Contents
- Promote the benefits of a healthy lifestyle and physical activity for individuals and communities.
- Encourage individuals' participation, motivation, and to change their behaviour towards sport or physical activity.
- Contribute to inclusive, safe, and effective sessions.
- Plan, follow, adapt, and deliver session plans, based on participant needs and feedback.
- Use coaching styles for sport or physical activity sessions meeting the participants needs and motivations.
- Promote the benefits of a lifelong activity habit.
- Use techniques to build rapport with participants.
- Carry out the tasks required before, during, and after a community activity.
- Support participants to overcome personal or societal barriers.
- Manage individuals' behaviours within a group setting.
- Work collaboratively with services and other community organisations to run events that make the best use of resources.
- Record and store data and information, in line with legislation and organisational policies and procedures.
- Use suitable digital technology to deliver targeted messages to participant groups.
- Adapt communication methods to meet the needs of participants and groups.
- Identify and respond to safeguarding concerns within own scope of role and in line with organisational protocols.
- Support equity, diversity, and inclusion in line with legislation and organisational policies.
- Support the mental health and wellbeing of self and participants.
- Comply with health and safety legislation, regulations, risk assessment procedures, guidelines, and procedures.
- Participate in personal and professional development.
- Maintain professional boundaries within scope of own role.
- Monitor and review the effectiveness of activity sessions.
- Assist with the resolution of challenges and problems.

Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.
Additional Requirements
- Will be required to support and ultimately run coaching sessions which be outdoors in all weathers
- Own transport would be a benefit to enable candidate to drive to fixtures or local school to support our Outreach Programme
- The role includes an element of office work requiring customer contact and administration tasks

The role could potentially develop into a full-time role developing the community aspect of the Sports Club activities, processing grant applications, and assisting on coaching programmes, as well as providing essential administration support to ensure the safe and profitable running of the Sports Club.
