Care Assistant – Health Care Assistant

About the Role

Valley Care, West Yorkshire, are looking for local Community Care Workers to join our care teams in the areas of:

  • Wakefield East – (Pontefract, Hemsworth, Knottingley, Castleford, Pontefract, Normanton, Ferry Bridge, Airdale and surrounding areas)

We are seeking Health Care Assistants to join our family-like team. We offer both part-time and full-time roles, where you’ll provide life-changing care and support, enabling vulnerable adults of all ages to live fulfilling lives in their own homes.


Working Hours

Our usual shifts include:

  • Mornings: 7am – 3pm
  • Evenings: 3pm – 10pm

Requirements for attendance:

  • Ability to work alternative weekends
  • Commitment to at least 2 evening shifts per week

Job Description: Key Responsibilities

Our Home Care Assistants provide essential support across multiple areas, including:

  • Personal care: Assisting service users with washing, bathing, and toilet arrangements
  • Mobility & physical disabilities: Helping overcome mobility issues and encouraging the safe use and care of aids
  • Domestic tasks: Making/changing beds, tidying rooms, light cleaning, laundry, and emptying commodes
  • Meals & nutrition: Preparing meals, snacks, and drinks while assisting with eating and drinking
  • Medication support: Administering medication as prescribed
  • End-of-life care: Contributing to compassionate end-of-life care, when needed

Requirements

  • Right to work in the UK
  • Driving licence and vehicle access (essential for this role)
  • No prior experience required, though candidates must:
    • Demonstrate real compassion
    • Be an excellent communicator and problem solver
    • Commit to delivering high-quality, respectful care
