This Community Coach – Degree role presents an opportunity to support the delivery of City in the Community’s Undergraduate and Postgraduate Degree programmes. Working alongside Manchester Metropolitan University, learners, and colleagues across the charity, you will drive high-quality work-based learning, pastoral support, and career development, empowering students to achieve success.


About City in the Community

Established in 1986, City in the Community is Manchester City’s official charity. Our mission is to enhance healthier lives through football, combining physical and mental wellbeing with community development.

Within our Education team, we deliver inspirational learning programmes that nurture young people’s academic, professional, and personal growth. In partnership with Manchester Metropolitan University and numerous education providers, we offer Undergraduate and Postgraduate Degree programmes that blend academic rigor with practical experience. These programmes equip learners with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to thrive in their careers.


The Role

You will:

  • Design, deliver, and evaluate work-based learning modules and seminars across our Degree programmes, ensuring alignment with educational objectives and providing engaging, high-quality sessions.
  • Collaborate closely with the Education Officer – Higher to:
    • Monitor learner progress via structured feedback, attendance tracking, and consistent communication.
    • Offer both practical and pastoral support, helping students realise their potential.
    • Work with Manchester Metropolitan University and partners to maintain programme relevance and adherence to university standards.
  • Enhance recruitment efforts by representing City in the Community at:
    • Schools, colleges
    • Careers fairs
    • Community events
  • Lead enrichment activities, including:
    • Guest speaker sessions
    • Continuous Professional Development (CPD) workshops
    • Educational visits
  • Support broader post-16 education initiatives as required.
  • Uphold safeguarding standards by embedding CFG and CITC policies and procedures into all programme delivery.

What You’ll Bring

  • Demonstrated expertise in coaching, education, or work-based learning within higher or further education.
  • Deep familiarity with higher education frameworks, paired with experience in:
    • Supporting learner development
    • Mentoring
    • Pastoral care
  • Strong history of building relationships with universities, colleges, and external education partners.
  • A relevant degree qualification and minimum Level 2 Football or Multi-Sports Coaching certification.
  • Superior communication, organisation, and digital skills, including proficiency with:
    • Microsoft Office tools
    • Learning platforms for tracking performance
    • Maintaining accurate learner records
