Position: Community Development Worker
Salary: £21,143 - £22,409 pro-rated (£30,204 - £32,013 per annum full-time equivalent)
Hours: 25 hours per week (flexible working pattern available)
The Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Adult and Community Learning Department at The Trafford College Group. Responsible for advancing our vision to become a leading provider of education and skills, fostering community cohesion and driving local and regional productivity, you will play a vital role in transforming lives.
As a Community Development Worker, you will:
- Work across the community to identify learning opportunities, supporting high-quality provision delivery from initial engagement to successful course completion.
- Collaborate closely with the Community Learning Leader to deliver responsive and high-quality learning provision.
- Conduct research and analysis to identify local community needs, using insights, data, and partnerships to maximise opportunities.
- Work with Neighbourhood Leads, community organisations, and local partners, with a particular focus on engaging hard-to-reach and underrepresented communities.
- Ensure inclusive access to learning opportunities across the Stockport area.
- Build and maintain relationships with a wide range of partners, agencies, and local groups to support inclusive community learning programs.
About You
We are seeking a passionate individuals who meet the following criteria:
- Substantial recent experience as a Community Development Worker.
- Proven expertise in partnership and inter-agency working, alongside a strong understanding of:
- Post-16 education, including Skills for Life and Community Learning provision.
- Current developments in Adult and Community Learning.
- Demonstrable experience engaging with diverse communities, particularly those facing barriers to participation.
- Confidence in building trust and relationships within local neighbourhoods.
- Suitability for a role requiring flexible working hours and regular travel.
- Access to transport is essential.

Appointments typically commence at the minimum pay grade, though upgrading to a higher point, based on experience or salary, is possible at the discretion of the People & Culture Director.
