Community Employment Advisor

Join us at Newground Together in Blackburn or Colne. We are recruiting for two positions: one in Blackburn and one in Colne. Employment Advisor and make a real difference! In this dynamic role, you'll empower individuals facing unemployment by helping them identify and overcome the barriers that stand in their way to gaining meaningful employment. Whether it's facilitating targeted training, supporting personal development, or addressing unique challenges, your efforts will open doors to new opportunities. You'll take the lead on implementing funded projects designed to boost life skills and employability, working hand-in-hand with community members to remove obstacles and prepare them for the job market. Plus, you'll collaborate closely with Job Centre Plus, various employment and skills agencies, and a network of voluntary, community, and faith-based organizations, fostering strong partnerships to create lasting positive impact. Strive to meet established targets, outcomes, and objectives, including assisting participants in securing employment, accessing training opportunities, and achieving social value outcomes. To determine and implement effective approaches which will help our clients develop confidence, overcome barriers and achieve successful transitions. Engage with local business and employers to understand business needs and promote our client base and services. To actively recruit clients into the employability projects, retain their engagement and encourage them to participate in workshops, job clubs and 1:1’s to raise aspirations, challenge them emotionally enabling them to reach their full potential. Identify and harness local, regional and national initiatives that deliver new opportunities access employment/training opportunities. Also, you will deliver group training to develop participants towards employability Develop working relationships with other professionals working in the field of employment, welfare and training sector. We are looking for someone who has… A valid UK driving license and access to a vehicle are required. Experience in a similar role, related sector, or relevant transferable You must be willing to obtain the IAG Level 2 Coaching or IEP or Mentoring qualification within the first six months if you do not already hold it. Experience of working with clients aged 16+ years, and supporting them to gain employment or training OR experience of working with clients to help them with progression in their life Evidence of effectively working with clients who face multiple barriers preventing them from engaging and participating, on short and long term interventions Have a proven record in developing contacts and engaging with local business to source employment opportunities Experience of problem solving and working on cases until completion and maintaining and managing a varied caseload Ability to uses your own initiative and meet performance targets Experience of negotiating and advocating successfully one to one, by telephone In return, we are offering the successful candidate in the Employment Advisor role... Starting salary of £30,476 per annum 27 days holiday (rising to 32 over 5 years’ service) + bank holidays You will organise your week by allocating your time between your allocated office located in Blackburn (BB1) and the nearby delivery hubs.
