Community Engagement Coordinator - Plasma

This is a 12-month fixed term contract.

📌 Job Summary

This critical role is central to NHSBT’s future success in plasma and blood donation collection. As the Community Engagement Coordinator - Plasma, you’ll play a key part in building our donor base, raising public awareness, and driving life-saving donations at Reading Donor Centre.

You’ll organise donor acquisition activities—including community events, engagement at donation centres, and exploring business opportunities—while nurturing strong partnerships with the third sector, corporate partners, and other stakeholders.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Proactively developing new business relationships
  • Accurate relationship management using the organisation’s CRM system
  • Promoting not just plasma but organ and other forms of donation

Teamwork is essential, as you’ll collaborate with our events team to coordinate local outreach.

The role is on-site, with an expectation of proximity (~12 miles) to Reading Donor Centre due to short-notice travel requirements. Travel reimbursement will be provided.


✅ Core Responsibilities

Community Engagement & Donor Acquisition

  • Organise and execute community-driven donation awareness campaigns, including events and donor incentives.
  • Engage with active donors at Reading Donor Centre on-site to promote repeat participation and loyalty.
  • Identify and develop new business partnerships aligned with NHSBT’s strategic goals.

Relationship Management

  • Proactively approach targeted businesses (as per line manager guidance) to foster collaborations.
  • Build and maintain key partnerships with corporate and third-sector organisations to maximise NHSBT’s reach.
  • Accurately update the Relationship Management Database as a matter of priority.

Awareness & Education

  • Champion plasma donation awareness through established communication channels.
  • Promote additional donation possibilities (e.g., organ donation) where appropriate.

🔍 Requirements

Experience & Skills

  • Marketing or customer-facing role: Demonstratable track record of delivering measurable results and positive impact on audience engagement.
  • Communication mastery: Fluency in printed, digital, social media, and email formats—to tailor messaging and campaigns effectively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft software: Outlook, Word, Excel (including advanced components), Teams, and PowerPoint.
  • Organisational excellence: Ability to coordinate complex events and manage multiple stakeholder relationships.

Qualifications

  • Degree level qualifications or equivalent professional experience.
  • Commitment to continued professional development (CPD)—self-initiated or through ongoing training.
