Community Impact & Engagement Manager
Location: Head Office, Mundells, Welwyn Garden City
Salary: £44,447 per annum (DOE)
Hours: 37 hours per week, full-time
Contract: Permanent
Reporting to: Executive Chef
About the Opportunity

We are looking for a Community Impact & Engagement Manager to help bring our purpose—feeding growing minds—to life across our schools. This is a high-profile, impactful role where you will work closely with schools, pupils, families, and colleagues to deliver meaningful food education and engagement initiatives. You’ll play a key role in strengthening relationships, showcasing our value, and supporting the long-term success of our services.
What You’ll Be Doing
Driving Purpose & Social Impact
- Champion HCL’s mission, enhancing its role beyond catering into social impact
- Build strong relationships with schools to support retention and satisfaction
- Gather feedback from schools and stakeholders to shape future initiatives
- Support the development of food education programmes

Food Education & School Engagement
- Deliver engaging food education sessions, including assemblies and workshops
- Coordinate a structured programme of school engagement activities
- Adapt and deliver age-appropriate resources across primary and secondary settings
- Work closely with operational teams to ensure effective delivery
Marketing, Communications & Content
- Collaborate with the Marketing Team on campaigns and messaging
- Support the rollout of educational materials and resources
- Capture and share impact stories (photos, videos, case studies)
- Contribute to newsletters, social media, and termly school updates
- Use data and insights to demonstrate programme impact

Partnerships & Representation
- Support partnerships with suppliers and stakeholders
- Represent HCL at events, presentations, and within school communities
- Act as a professional ambassador for HCL
What We’re Looking For
Experience
- Experience delivering education, engagement, or training programmes, ideally in schools or public sector settings
- Understanding of nutrition, healthy eating, or school food (desirable)
- Awareness of School Food Standards and allergens (or willingness to learn)
Skills & Attributes
- Confident communicator, comfortable presenting to diverse audiences
- Strong organisational and planning skills
- Excellent relationship-building ability
- Collaborative and team-focused approach
- Professional, credible, and approachable
- IT literate (Microsoft Office and digital tools)
- Flexible and able to travel across Hertfordshire (own vehicle required)
