About ChessRing
ChessRing is a growing community and events company using chess to bring people together. Through chess clubs, corporate events, and community initiatives, we aim to create meaningful connections and make chess more accessible to everyone.
As ChessRing continues to grow, we are looking for a passionate and outgoing Community Lead Manager to help build and strengthen our community.
Role Overview
The Community Lead Manager will play a key role in creating welcoming and engaging experiences for ChessRing members. This person will:
- Help organise and facilitate weekly chess clubs
- Contribute ideas for new events
- Work closely with the founder to continue building a thriving community
This is an ideal opportunity for someone who:
- Loves building and connecting with others
- Enjoys socialising and engaging in community initiatives
- Believes in the power of chess as a tool for connection
Who We Are Looking For
We are seeking a Community Lead Manager who has:
- An outgoing personality who enjoys meeting new people
- A natural ability to make others feel welcome
- Passion for chess and an understanding of its appeal
- No need to be an elite player, but experience in:
- Teaching beginners
- Introducing people to chess
- Strong team player skills with a collaborative attitude
- Creativity and enthusiasm for new event ideas
- Reliability, organisation, and a proactive mindset
- A genuine love for community building and bringing people together

Key Responsibilities
Weekly Chess Club Management
- Organise and facilitate weekly ChessRing chess clubs
- Create a welcoming environment for new and existing members
- Introduce and support beginners
- Encourage interaction and help players build connections
Event Development
- Develop creative ideas for monthly ChessRing events
- Organise social and themed experiences
- Assist with event logistics and logistics
Community Building
- Grow and strengthen the ChessRing community
- Maintain relationships with regular attendees
- Encourage participation and member retention
- Foster an inclusive and positive atmosphere
- Collect, organise, and maintain:
- Attendance records
- Member feedback
- Engagement metrics
- Provide insights to improve the member experience
- Support systems for tracking community growth and impact
Collaboration
- Work closely with the founder and wider team
- Contribute ideas to enhance community operations
- Eventually take ownership of community operations
- Help ensure ChessRing’s sustainable growth

Experience
While experience isn’t essential, being familiar with:
- Community building
- Event planning or hosting
- Teaching or mentoring
- Work with clubs, societies, or volunteer organisations
- Customer service/hospitality
- Chess coaching or involvement in local chess
...will be advantageous.
Time Commitment
Flexible based on availability, but ideally includes:
- Regular attendance at ChessRing clubs
- Participation in monthly events
- Ongoing communication with the team
