Job Overview

THIS POST IS A SECONDMENT FOR 12 MONTHS DUE TO MATERNITY COVER.

The post holder is required to work within a Multidisciplinary Team - with adults and children with a learning disability and associated complex health needs.

The post holder will be responsible for taking on appropriate assessment of a person's needs and undertaking interventions that aim to improve their quality of life and achieve positive outcomes - this will include planning how to do this alongside other professionals within the team.

Post holder will provide education, knowledge, guidance and support to student nurses and unqualified staff in the team and provide support to clients and their families.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Main Duties of the Job

Essential criteria

  • RNLD

Experience

Essential criteria

  • Experience in learning disability services

Desirable criteria

  • Broad range of experience working in health & social care settings

Knowledge

Essential Criteria

  • Demonstrate a good understanding of Learning Disability, including Mental Health, Forensics, Challenging Behaviour and PLD/Complex. Health.
  • Awareness of current developments within a clinical setting
  • Completed training in mentoring & Assessing student nurses

Desirable criteria

  • Awareness of current developments within – Learning Disability services
  • Understanding of clinical governance

Personal Qualities

Essential Criteria

  • Ability to communicate clearly and accurately
  • Ability to adapt to new and changing circumstances
  • Self-motivated
