Rotational Occupational Therapy Role
Are you an enthusiastic Occupational Therapist looking to broaden your practice within a dedicated specialist team? Join our Weymouth Integrated Community Rehab Team (ICRT) and help move care back into the community while building Integrated Neighbourhood Teams (INTs).
As a Community Occupational Therapist in a rotational role across Intermediate Care Team (ICT), Long-Term Rehabilitation and Ward Therapy Support, you will bring your clinical expertise to the entire patient journey. You’ll join a multidisciplinary team providing specialist training, advice, and care programmes to support high-quality, person-centred interventions for both patients and professionals.
With your skills in effectiveness, communication, professionalism, and innovation, you’ll ensure that care delivery reaches the highest standard. This is a full- or part-time position (minimum 22.5 hours) operating over a 7-day service.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide ** Occupational Therapy (OT)-based assessments and rehabilitation** across a range of physical presentations, including:
- Stroke and neurology
- Orthopaedics
- Frailty and falls
- Cognitive impairment (and many more) in multiple settings (community, wards, etc.).

Work across Intermediate Care Teams, Long-Term Rehabilitation, and Ward Support to avoid hospital admissions and ensure seamless patient legions in their own homes on a 7-day rotation.

Deliver mall-person-centred rehab programmes, ensuring assessments include:
- Moving and handling
- Familiarity with supporting equipment
- Holistic assessment techniques
- Expertise in working with older adults, particularly those facing frailty.

Provide acute crisis management, including:
- Recognising and managing deteriorating patients
- Carrying out basic physical assessments & observations
- Judging when to escalate concerns appropriately.

Cover operational duties (including 18:00 shifts where necessary) to support emergency referrals in both rehab wards and the community.

Demonstrate excellence in:
- Communication (written and verbal)
- Caseload & time management
- Autonomous working
- Supervision and mentorship of healthcare professionals at all levels.

Contribute to innovation and service development by problem-solving and improving quality standards.
Requirements

Qualified Occupational Therapist with clinical expertise in:
- Physical & neurological rehabilitation
- Cognitive assessment
- Care for frail and elderly patients

Experience in:
- Holistic assessment and intervention
- Moving and handling techniques
- Leading person-centred care pathways
