Cardiff Met Students’ Union is seeking a passionate and proactive Community & Partners Coordinator to join our Student Voice & Advocacy team in this brand-new role. This exciting opportunity will allow you to play a key role in strengthening student voice and representation, particularly for students studying at partner institutions and Transnational Education (TNE) sites. The role involves designing and delivering systems and activities that empower students to shape their academic experience and influence university decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

In this dynamic role, you will:

  • Coordinate student representation systems across partner campuses and TNE sites, including:
    • Developing structures for Course Representatives
    • Facilitating collaboration between student leaders and partner institutions

  • Design systems that enable students to:

    • Influence university decision-making
    • Actively participate in shaping their academic experience
  • Plan and deliver community-building and engagement activities that:

    • Enhance student belonging
    • Foster connections within diverse student groups
  • Develop and maintain student voice resources, with a specific focus on:

    • Empowering underrepresented groups and marginalised communities
  • Work closely with student leaders to:

    • Support them in achieving individual and collective goals
    • Ensure their voices are amplified
  • Deliver outreach activities to increase awareness of:

    • Students’ Union voice and feedback mechanisms
    • Opportunities for student representation
  • Support democratic processes by:

    • Acting as a key liaison during discussion panels, surveys, and elections
    • Ensuring smooth operational delivery of Students’ Union functions
  • Collaborate internally and externally to:

    • Strengthen student engagement across all campuses
    • Maintain effective partnerships with institutions and stakeholders

Requirements

We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed candidate with a genuine passion for student engagement and inclusion. The essential requirements include:

  • Experience delivering outreach or engagement activities within a university or higher education setting

  • Knowledge of key issues affecting the higher education sector, such as:

    • Ethical practices in student welfare
    • Higher education governance and policy

  • Understanding of:

    • Student rights and protections
    • Safeguarding principles and practices
    • Ethical handling of confidential information
  • A degree or equivalent experience within a university or HE setting

Additionally, you will be:

  • A strong communicator, adept at engaging with diverse student demographics and stakeholders

  • Highly organised, able to:

    • Manage multiple tasks effectively
    • Meet deadlines across multiple deadlines
  • Proactive and creative, particularly in engaging underrepresented student groups

  • Committed to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion in all aspects of the role
