About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Community Physiotherapist to cover 8 months of maternity leave until March 2027. You will join the Integrated North Lancashire Community Therapy & Rehabilitation Team, currently based from the Royal Lancaster Infirmary.

The service works closely with in-patient therapy teams, hospital discharge teams, Integrated Care Communities, local GP's, Adult Social Care, and Advanced Clinical Practitioners. The service supports people with a wide variety of conditions including elderly care, frailty and falls, orthopaedics, and long-term condition management.

  • Work as an individual within the community therapy team undertaking specialist assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of patients with frequently complex problems in their own homes, residential, and nursing care homes.
  • Have completed a range of core rotations within the NHS as a physiotherapist with a desire to develop your clinical skills further.
  • Demonstrate and evidence your own professional development.
  • Demonstrate your ability to work independently when necessary.
  • Have a friendly and flexible attitude, which is patient focused and dedicated to quality care.
  • Use your expertise to supervise and teach physiotherapy students and other staff within the service.

Locations

We operate from three main hospitals:

  • Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow
  • The Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI)
  • Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal

We also operate from a number of community healthcare premises including:

  • Millom Hospital and GP Practice
  • Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe
  • Ulverston Community Health Centre

Facilities and Services

  • FGH and RLI: General Hospital services, full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units, and various Consultant-led services.
  • WGH: General Hospital services, Urgent Treatment Centre for non-life-threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
  • All three main hospitals: Planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case, and inpatient surgery. Local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.

Our Community Service for adults are provided in people's homes, community centres, clinics, GP Practices, community hospitals. Our aim is to work with people to help them remain independent, improve their health, and manage their conditions through high-quality care, advice, and support.
