The Role

Performing full time duties equivalent to 30 hours per week as part of the West Forest District team.

About the Team & Workplace

As Community Rangers, we stewards of 38,500 ha of the Nation’s Forests in England. From the woodlandsnear Shrewsbury and Savernake Forest, to the scenic moors and ancient coppices of Cornwall, there’s never a dull day!

The role is based in Ludlow within the Shropshire Hills beat, with the opportunity for occasional commutes across the district.


Key Duties & Responsibilities

As a Community Ranger, you’ll lead and support:

  • Recreation Facilities Management

    • Maintain access and upgrade trails, routes and recreational areas.
  • Community Engagement

    • Engage on local income-generating projects, manage visitor enquiries}.
    • Build hostibly relationships, supporting partnerships with community groups, volunteers and stakeholders.
    • Enhance and strengthen communications and dialogue with local people.

    • Contribute to improving visitor satisfaction by integrating feedback and value-added services.

Salary & Working Conditions

  • Salary: £30,105 (full time equivalent based on 30 hours weekly)
  • Contract Type: Permanent
  • Hours: 29.6 per week (equivalent)
