Staff Nurse (NE District Nursing Service) – Permanent Full-Time Role
About the Organisation
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is one of the largest healthcare systems in the United Kingdom, employing approximately 40,000 staff across a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health services to a population of over 1.15 million people (extending to 2.2 million when including regional and national services).
The Role
Aimed at: Registered Nurses with a valid NMC registration looking for a community-based, person-centred career within NHS Scotland.
An exciting permanent full-time opportunity has arisen for Staff Nurses to join the NE District Nursing Service, where you will deliver high-quality, person-centred nursing care across the community.
Key Responsibilities:
Bespoke and autonomous care delivery:
- Deliver high-quality, safe, and effective nursing care to patients within the community
- Undertake assessment, planning, and implementation of evidence-based care programmes tailored to individual patient needs
- Provide skilled clinical interventions, including complex nursing procedures and long-term condition management
Team collaboration & flexibility:
- Work autonomously, while supporting the District Nursing team and broader multidisciplinary workforce
- Respond effectively to both planned and unscheduled care needs, prioritising urgent patient requirements
- Ensure clinical record accuracy, compliance with professional standards, policies, and guidelines

Professional contribution:
- Contribute to team development through mentoring, supervision, and participation in audits and learning activities
Location & Working Pattern:
- Base Location: Bridgeton Health Centre
- Shift Pattern: Flexible shifts (Monday to Sunday) – 8 AM to 8 PM with participation in a weekend and public holiday rota
Requirements
Qualifications & Experience:
- Registered Nurse with valid NMC registration (Part 1 or equivalent)
- Evidence of ongoing professional development & NMC revalidation
- Full UK driving licence + willingness to travel across the service area
- Strong communication skills, patient-centred, and family-inclusive mindset
Key Competencies:
- Competent IT skills (digital systems for documentation & communication)
- Autonomous working – ability to manage workload and make decisive clinical decisions
- Leadership & problem-solving – collaborative teamwork with multidisciplinary health professionals
- Demonstrated adaptability, resilience, and compassion in emergency or unplanned care situations
