Position Summary
- Role: Support Worker
- Location: Barrow-In-Furness, Cumbria
- Hours: Full-Time (37.5 hours/week) or Part-Time (22.5 hours/week, flexible rota)
- Hourly Rate: £12.85

Are you a caring individual who enjoys working with people to enable them to live their best lives? We are looking for a Support Worker to join our community outreach team in Barrow-in-Furness.
About the Role
As a Support Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting adults with mental health needs and learning disabilities. This involves:
- Building trusting, therapeutic relationships with service users.
- Visiting service users in their homes or other settings to provide practical and emotional support.
- Assisting with daily living tasks, including:
- Cooking and meal preparation.
- Managing appointments.
- Supporting with medication.
- Assisting with money management.
- Adhering to individual support plans and promoting independence where possible.
The role requires lone working, meaning you will need to use your own initiative and work independently.
Key Responsibilities
✔ Deliver person-centred support in accordance with individual plans. ✔ Build meaningful relationships with service users to enhance confidence and well-being. ✔ Provide emotional and practical assistance to promote independence. ✔ Assist with daily activities (household tasks, personal care, etc.). ✔ Contribute to team discussions regarding service user progress. ✔ Ensure safety and dignity are maintained at all times. ✔ Act as a referent point for service users and broader team.

Person Specification & Requirements
✅ Essential: ✔ Experience or strong desire to work with adults with learning disabilities and/or mental health conditions. ✔ Ability to work autonomously without constant supervision. ✔ Valid or désertire to gain full UK driving licence (note: verifiable driving experience required). ✔ Reliable own transport (or access to one) with motor insurance; mileage allowance provided. ✔ Ability to work with a flexible rotas (including both day and early evening shifts).
⚠ Desirable: ✔ Previous experience in social care, mental health, or disability support. ✔ Knowledge of person-centred planning and recovery-based approaches.
